"10 Feb 1674/75. Att this Cort: Oliver Bowzer doth confesse Judgmt. unto the Church Wardens of St. Mary White Chappell for 500 lb. of tobaccoe & ca: for the use of their sde. Pishe: to bee paide att or upon the tenth day of October nexte wth: costs als exec., the same beinge due to the saide Pishe: from Eliz: Clifford, late Servt., to Coll. Ed: Carter, for a Fine accordinge to Acte for haveing a bastard Childe in the tyme of her servitude.
"Upon the Complainte and Oath of Elizabeth Clifford, Servant to Coll. Edward Carter, made in Cort., that shee goeth daily in danger of her life of the Negroes belonginge to her saide Master by reason of their hard usage and threats for the p:vencon of any further inconvenciency therein (it appeareing to this Cort: that shee hath compleated her tyme of servitude accordinge as shee came into this Countrey for and yt: there remaineing due from her but one yere nyne monethes & a halfe service to her saide Master, the same beinge due accordinge to Acte for shee haveing a bastard Childe borne of her body in the tyme of her servitude and that by one of the sde. Negroes), it is therefore ordered that the saide Servt. bee forthwth: solde at an outcry for the saide tyme she hath to serve and that Judgmt. bee acknowledged by the buyer to the sde. Coll. Edward Carter for soe much tobaccoe as shee shalbee solde for to bee paide the nexte cropp.
