Research Notes
Proof of Immigrant Servant Status:
"... Affra Harleton appears as a servant to Ed. Hollis and Joseph Dalton on a list of those aboard the ship Carolina about to leave England for the colony in August, 1669. However, she was the daughter of an Essex gentleman, and neither Hollis nor Dalton claimed land for having brought her to Carolina," quoting Shaftsbury Papers, 134, 394.
